"At a little over 10 ft long, Unfinished Business is a tapestry that can be projected. It is woven from the films The Thinking Machine (Henry Feinburg), Adventures in Abrasives, and The Dream that wouldn’t Down (NASA). I used Koolaid and hair dye to recreate the colors of the Lesbian flag as this piece focuses on the intersection between Queerness and Disability. I chose to use 16mm film as the ‘fabric’ because I feel like I am constantly having to carve out my own space in the world as a Queer Disabled Lesbian. It is best viewed in a darker space with flashlights that allow individuals to ‘project’ the film on the surrounding walls. At first I thought about making it a smaller piece, but I realized I wanted it to physically take up space that is often denied to Queer Disabled folx. Queering spaces in film often means doing most of the work yourself and pioneering new areas. The film is woven to show how identities overlap. It is left unfinished because our communities are always evolving."
